A lot of the music on this show is from Brisbane but in equal measure we travel the globe for a cross section of some of the best new Different Noises around. There is everything from indie pop, via post-rock, through improvisation to sludge metal. Variety is, of course, the spice of life.

With over 1,000 new releases being sent my way, or purchased, this year it has been difficult to keep a perspective on the year as it has been generally very good indeed. As I turn my mind to the inevitable “end of year” lists I wonder if it is going to be possible to narrow down so many releases - perhaps it ought to be an artists/labels of the year list? - this might give me the flexibility I need. This selection is no exception with a variety of genres and styles in play all of which could be well placed in any such list.

As previously trailed the featured album is the stunning live collection from Tropical Fuck Storm - a tour de force summation of their work to date. The usual featured albums are here including a first album proper from North West UK legends VeeVV. I’ve also had a rummage through the archive for some old favourites.
